MISS MISSY

Missy Beirne (pronounced like Burney) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved to Northern Kentucky, just across the Ohio River at the age 13.

Missy earned her BA  in Education at the University of Kentucky, in Lexington, with an English major and Sociology minor. Her teaching experience includes being a Reader/ Editor and Right To Read teacher at the SS Middle School, a substitute for K-12, and 10 years of teaching at Christian Heritage School. She taught grades K-6, including Literacy, Math, Bible, Science, History, and Latin.

After testing the waters as a concierge, Steamboat Springs Parks and Rec Registration Specialist, City Hall Front Desk Clerk, antique and home furnishing sales person and having her own business, “Clutter Busters,” she has twice returned to teaching, finding nothing better than making a difference in a child’s life.

Missy moved to Steamboat in 1974. She gave birth to her first child at the old SS hospital. They were the only patients in the hospital, except for one hunter, who shot himself in the foot! She then moved away that same year and returned in 1989.

Missy lived at Pearl Lake for 5 years, and now resides in town and carpools to NRCCS (the best place in the world) with 2 other teachers.

A proud mom of three, and a grateful grandma of 3, Missy has family in Hayden, M0ntrose and Seattle.
