Daily Schedule

8:00 – 8:45
Writer’s Bloc:
 Write Source and Six Traits writing curriculums including Sentence of the Day, creative writing, writing instruction, peer and individual revising and editing.

8:45 – 9:45
Math Groups:  Everyday Mathematics curriculum: Students are in homogeneous groupings with differential instruction that combines paper pencil tasks and hands-on experiential learning.
9:45 – 10:00
Snack and reading aloud: The book always relates to our expedition.

10:00 -11:30
Literacy: Each student participates in thirty minutes of direct instruction in a reading group at the child’s reading level. During this time students are also responsible for a variety of independent tasks
to enhance reading, writing, expedition and spelling.

11:30 – 11:55
Poetry: Using shared reading techniques the students explore a poem each week that relates to our expedition or focuses on one
particular poet.

11:55 – 12:30
Lunch and Recess

Physical Education

1:30 – 1:45
Mad Minutes Program: This program provides the students the opportunity to increase their algorithms in math.

1:45 -2:00
Afternoon Meeting: This time is for the students to check-in with one another using four components: greetings, news and announcements, sharing, and activities.

2: 00 – 2:45
Expedition on Monday and Wednesday: Very hands-on, cooperative learning investigation into specific a science and or social studies subjects.
2:45 – 3:15
Learning Target Time:This is time for the students to work on their individual goals, which they set for themselves at the beginning of the year.2:00 – 2:30
Expedition on Tuesday and Thursday2:30 – 3:15
Enrichment: Students will rotate through four different sessions:  art, music, Spanish and conflict resolution.
